Founded in 1988, German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence GmbH (DFKI) today is one of the largest non-profit contract research institutes in the field of innovative software technology based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods. DFKI is focusing on the complete cycle of innovation - from world-class basic research and technology development through leading-edge demonstrators and prototypes to product functions and commercialization.
Based in Kaiserslautern, Saarbrücken, and Bremen, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence ranks among the important "Centers of Excellence" worldwide. An important element of DFKI's mission is to move innovations as quickly as possible from the lab into the marketplace. Only by maintaining research projects at the forefront of science DFKI has the strength to meet its technology transfer goals.
The newly created department “Augmented Vision” focuses on research in the area of human-centred visualization, virtual and augmented reality, sensor interpretation and computer vision. It rapidly grew and is already participating to many major national and European projects.

The laboratory Biomécanique et Bioingéniérie of the University of Compiegne represents one of the largest unity dedicated to bio-mechanical analysis, bio-sensors and e-health. It includes 8 professors of different disciplines (mechanics, electronics, computer sciences, hysiologists, biologists and physicians) and 33 full research members.

TRIVISIO Prototyping GmbH is a privately owned German engineering and prototyping company with an engineering team which has experience on NTE-displays ("near-the-eye") for more than 9 years. The company is engaged in development and production of mobile igital visual systmes especially personal NTE-displays for the use in AR/VR-applications, by visually impaired, in invasive surgery and night-vision such as surveillance, security and law enforcement. The R&D activities are focused on all kind of improvements for the visual human-machine interfaces, mainly optical and ergonomical solutions and additional in the field of optical sensoring such as CCD or CMOS based cameras and motion tracking. The offered product spectrum is covering all kind of HMDs and "View-Up-Displays", goggles, monoculars, stereoscopic displays, video- and optical seethrough, night vision and cameras. Trivisio has meanwhile become the only European developer and producer of Head Mounted Displays for AR and VR (augmented/virtual reality). The Trivisio catalogue includes ultra sharp, high-contrast, low-distorted and bright NTE-optics based on micro-displays, wide field of view optics, optical see-through, video see-through, stereoscopic displays optical and video see through), light and innovative designed HMDs, monoculars and goggles, extraordinary night vision sensors, night-vision products, handheld displays, IR and low light technics (cameras, sensors), microelectronic development and prototyping and rapid development.
